About Convoy For Kids

Convoy for Kids was started in 2000 by a few transport and logistics companies which made up the Logistics Sub-Committee of The Australian-Thai Chamber of Commerce. The aim is to put some fun into the lives of handicapped and under privileged children as well as give them some financial support

G7N supports the Convoy For Kids program in Thailand by serving as a corporate sponsor. We’re helping to put some fun into the byes of children with physical disabilities. We also took part in The Annual Convoy for Kids Charity Golf Day.

Our main event each year is in November when we take over 250 children from The Pakred School in Nonthaburi, Sister Joan’s Klong Toey Slums Project and The Bang Seu Project for a fun day out. We run a convoy of commercial transport vehicles accompanying the children who travel in buses. Each company participating in the convoy makes a contribution to the charity. The money raised pays for the day and the remainder is donated to The Foundation for The Welfare for the Crippled in Thailand. Venues we have taken the children to include Safari World, Bang Saen Beach, Muang Boran (Ancient City), and Khaow Khaew Zoo. Our main beneficiary “ The Foundation for the Welfare of the Crippled under the Royal Patronage of H.R.H. the Princess Mother.

The Foundation for the Welfare for The Crippled in Thailand is a non-profit organisation established in 1954. The Foundation was originally set up to support the young victims of a polio outbreak which swept Thailand in the early 50’s. With a widespread inoculation programme making polio a thing of the past, The Foundations efforts today are principally concentrated on helping children suffering from cerebral palsy, spina bifida and congenital deformities, which perhaps present a greater challenge to both sufferers, care givers and the families involved.
