Logistics software companies WiseTech Global and Softlink have joined the 2nd Annual G7 Logistics Networks Conference. With this being only our second conference it’s certainly no small feat to have the presence of two software companies at the event.
As many might already know, WiseTech Global is the maker of their CargoWise One software suite oriented towards the freight forwarding industry. Softlink is more of a newcomer to logistics software solutions but has established itself well in the market with it’s offering of its Logi-Sys software solution for freight forwarding.
WHY IS THIS GOOD FOR G7N MEMBERS?
Although we’re not even a full month into 2018 it is becoming more apparent by the day that the future of logistics lies in technology. It’s surprising how many freight forwarders are still using the same methods as a decade or more ago and are somehow still surviving in the industry. New logistics tech startups are receiving funding and making headlines daily because the logistics industry is ripe for disruption.
By giving G7N members the opportunity to meet and engage with software solutions providers we’re helping members dip their toes into the technology pool. Certainly we don’t expect members to meet with WiseTech or Softlink and be making Bitcoin transactions or using blockchain technology to bills of lading and other shipping documents. What we do hope and expect is for members to learn more about how technology is shaping the industry and what needs to be done to remain competitive. The presence of the Amazons, Ubers, Flexports, and others will continue to grow and it is up to the smaller freight forwarders to anticipate and adapt.
